Landlords take note as tenant demand rockets

Wednesday 15th December 2010.

Figures just released by Countrywide show a 19% increase in new tenants registering for rental accommodation last quarter, with over 61,000 potential new tenants on the search for new homes.

The survey also revealed that an average of 5.8 tenants were vying for each property during the same period, the third quarter of 2010 and, while apartments make up the greatest proportion of stock on agents books, two-bedroom houses remain highly popular with an average 10.2 tenants chasing each home.

If you’ve been trying to sell your property in recent months, without success, it might well be the perfect time to take a different approach and consider renting your home instead. With many properties seeing lets agreed before existing tenants’ contracts have ended, you might be on the move faster than you ever thought possible.
